X-Comfort Brace
24/04/22 Guangzhou, CHINA
Florian is a 35-year-old French professor at the University of Guangzhou. Earlier this year, he suffered an accident and got hit by a car while returning home from a 3-day cycling trip with his friends. Luckily, he didn't suffer any fatal injuries; however, he injured his wrist during the accident. The doctors at the hospital confirmed that he had a broken wrist.
Florian was given a gypsum plaster cast to wear for four to six weeks. As an avid cyclist, it made it difficult for him to stay active. He found it very frustrating when his cast would get sweaty and uncomfortable when going for a run or exercising. The cast would make his skin irritated and itchy every day.
He went back to the hospital to get his cast replaced. Florian had worn out the initial cast he had been given and required a new one. After a couple of days, his new cast became dirty and uncomfortable as well. He decided to look for another solution by approaching HeyGears to help him design a customized 3D printed brace. A short visit to HeyGears' headquarters for an arm scan is all it took for him to receive his personalized 3D-printed X-Comfort brace.
HeyGears customized the brace with his name, the date of the accident, and a bike drawing.
Florian enjoyed having his X-Comfort brace. He could be active again without worrying about getting his brace dirty or sweaty. The X-Comfort brace is removable, which allowed him to wash his arm and prevent it from getting itchy. He thanks HeyGears for making it easier for him to go about his daily life.
Zhao, a local Hospital surgeon in Guangzhou, confirmed that HeyGears' X-Comfort brace improves a patient's recovery experience compared to a traditional gypsum plaster cast. Some key improvements are reduced itchiness, less skin irritation, no smell, and the ability to remove it when you shower. "Doctors and surgeons want to make sure that patients receive the best possible medical care while improving their recovery experience; X-Comfort allows both."
Florian's 3D-printed X-Comfort brace has allowed him to get back to running and cycling two weeks ahead of schedule. We're delighted that we could help him get back to doing what he loves most: cycling and staying active.
